Operation Pocket Field Pillow (PFP)

Polartec Comes Through Again!

Posted on: March 9, 2009

We’ve bought our baby-weight fleece from Malden Mills in Lawrence, Massachusetts for years. We’d never buy it anywhere else — after all, when you buy the best, there’s no need to look any further. The folks at Malden have always been helpful to us, always professional, always courteous. So when we stood up Operation PFP, and needed help, we called our friends at Malden.

We explain what we were doing and why, and asked our friends at the mill if the company might consider donating fabric. We asked for remnants, discontinued colors, damaged goods, mill ends, whatever they had on hand that they wouldn’t mind donating.

Today we received not one but two rolls of the most beautiful Army green fleece we’ve ever seen! Not scraps or remnants, but over 60 yards of 1st run material; we all wore smiles from ear to ear like the seven little dwarfs marching along with those gorgeous rolls of fleece on our shoulders (I could swear I heard someone humming in the back!).

We’ve cut the 1st roll into volunteer-sized runs, and there’s enough fabric on the smaller roll alone for 246 PFPs!

Malden has been so very generous to donate all this beautiful fleece; they don’t know it yet, but hundreds upon hundreds of our Soldiers will lay their heads down on the finest fleece milled in the United States — we would say it’s the finest, period.

We sincerely thank you, dear friends at Malden Mills, for your thoughtful and generous donation. Hundreds of our Soldiers will benefit from your kindness.

From our hearts to yours, thank you, and God bless.

Operation PFP is made possible in part by my small business, Just For Baby Gifts, donations of ACU by the Carlisle Finishing Plant, fleece donated by Polartec, supplies donated by Brother International, and by the untold hours of work by hundreds of proud and grateful American volunteers.

...til they all come home
