Operation Pocket Field Pillow (PFP)

SPC Bowe Bergdahl; One of our sons is still missing

Posted on: March 21, 2011

American POW Airborne Infantryman Bowe Bergdahl

Very few people I’ve talked to know that one of our sons is still missing; his name is Bowe Bergdahl. He was with the 1-501 Airborne Infantry out of FT Richardson, Alaska and deployed with several thousand of his closest buddies.

Something happened early in the morning of June 30, 2009 after standing his watch that led SPC Bergdahl to leave his body armor and weapons behind and walk out of his compound. We don’t know what that something was — and all the speculation in the world doesn’t matter.

What does matter is that the Taliban is holding an American soldier hostage. One of our boys went missing June 30, 2009.

Bowe’s family asks only that you keep him in your thoughts. I know I won’t forget. I can’t forget his face.

That missing son could well have been my own.

Tell your friends about Bowe Bergdahl. Visit his family’s blog; email his picture to everyone you know. Remind your deployed troop that a brother is still missing.

And please don’t forget his face.
